This website is intended to inform and educate our fellow Hoosier construction workers, the Indiana Construction Industry and the general public about an Ohio contractor, Sunesis Construction.
Sunesis Construction, which is based in West Chester Ohio, has begun to bid on public works projects in Indiana. LIUNA Local 120 and IUOE Local 103 have worked hard to maintain good working conditions for their members.
We believe that all concerned Hoosiers should carefully look at out of state companies such as Sunesis to decide for yourself if they lower these hard fought working conditions.
Sunesis' Safety Record:
For Immediate Release:
February 8, 2010 - Outrage Builds After Sunesis Construction is Fined Again For Trenching Violations in Indiana!
On December 8, 2008, Sunesis was issued two (2) "serious" citations and given $7,000 in penalties by IOSHA. Videos of this situation are available to view in the "safety issues" section of this web site. Sunesis has filed a notice of contest to the citations, but do we really want this type of situation in Indiana?
Sunesis' history with job site safety has been highlighted in at least three (3) national or regional reports. You may view these reports in the "safety issues" section of this web site.
Additionally, after two fatal workplace accidents in 2005, the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, a private advocacy group, listed Sunesis on its Workplace Health and Safety "Dirty Dozen Report" for 2006.
Ask yourself:
- Do we want hard-earned tax money going to companies with less than perfect safety records?
- Do we want our hard-earned tax money going to out-of-state contractors when safe and efficient Hoosier companies can do this work?
- Do we really want Sunesis Construction in Indiana ?
LIUNA Local 120 and IUOE Local 103 will continue to track the safety record of Sunesis Construction, as well as their compliance with all other state and federal laws, and will provide continuing information to the public.
